Classic fairy tales - Hansel and Gretel
In literacy, we have been discussing classic fairy tales, and we have read a few of them.
We had a look at a modern fairy tale (Into the forest) but more recently, we focused on classical texts. Our most recent read was Hansel and Gretel.
We talked about what the witch's house could look like, and today, we tried to make it ourselves, by using wafers for the base, sweets for the decorations, and icing and sugar to hold everything together.
The results are pretty conclusive (have a look at our Fantastic Flickr).
What shape did you make your base?
What do you think is the best shape for a base? Why?
Would you rather have made a big house or a small house? Why?
What difficulties did you encounter? How did you work around them?
Is your house edible (look up that word in your dictionary if you are not sure what it means!)?
I love making houses because it is fun
